Wei Jun-kai, General Manager of M2COMM, stated that as a Taiwan-based electronic shelf label manufacturer in China, this collaboration with Simple Mart combines E Ink Holdings' electronic paper technology with the company's proprietary Sub-1GHz communication technology to create the highly efficient and stable electronic paper label solution ESL. This solution boasts ultra-long transmission distances, ensuring stable and precise data transfer that perfectly meets the needs of multi-format retail stores. Traditional e-paper label deployments often require additional hardware such as computers, whereas ESL achieves rapid horizontal scaling through cloud deployment. Outlets require no additional software-installed devices, enabling Plug and Play e-paper labelling in minimal time whilst substantially reducing per-store deployment costs.

As the global leader in electronic paper technology, E ink's General Manager, Gan Fengyuan, stated that the company has built over a decade of collaborative foundations with Simple Mart. He expressed gratitude for Simple Mart's consistent proactive investment in upgrading smart retail operations. With the addition of M2COMM, Taiwanese consumers will have the opportunity to enjoy a more digital and environmentally friendly all-round shopping experience.

E-paper requires only minimal power during screen refreshes, eliminating the need for wiring on shelves. Offering clear, paper-like visual experiences, its application in electronic shelf labels enables dynamic price updates. This provides retailers with a digitalised offline solution that is flexible, durable, and environmentally conscious. Mr Gan further elaborated that, Regarding ESG sustainable retail, taking the most commonly used 3-inch e-paper labels as an example, E Ink has installed approximately one billion units globally over the past seven years. If price information is updated four times daily, the carbon dioxide emissions generated by using paper price tags are 32,000 times greater than those from e-paper labels, compared to single-use paper price tags. As the retail sector advances into the future, e-paper extends beyond shelf labelling. In this era of full-colour e-paper displays, it offers expanded advertising solutions. For instance, deploying e-paper advertising boards replaces paper posters or LCD screens for point-of-purchase (POP) displays, while substituting message boards or posters enables a store-wide transition towards low-carbon, paperless operations. This represents the next phase of collaboration with the retail industry.
